PRLog (Press Release) -
Nov. 23, 2011 - Las Vegas-based DJ AudioDoks (whose real name is Alex Simon) is mostly known throughout the music world for his high-energy music sets. It is, however, a unique feature that also has people talking about the multinational entertainer – he was born in the U.S. and raised in Brazil. AudioDoks plays every show wearing a children's band-aid on his face – some days it's a Mickey Mouse band-aid, some days it's a Dora The Explorer band-aid. Nevertheless, the band-aid is always present.
When asked about it, AudioDoks explains that the band-aid is a form of bringing awareness to children's human rights issues worldwide, a cause that he has adopted as he gains notoriety on a national and international level. “It saddens me that children are dying worldwide on a daily basis due to lack of water, food and shelter”, says AudioDoks, adding “As a public figure and someone who grew up witnessing severe poverty in Brazil, I just want to be able to help in any way I can, whether it be financially or through bringing attention to these issues.”
Many music fans, however, often mention another singer who wore a band-aid for a while. Rapper Nelly often wore a band-aid on his face as a “shout-out”
to his brother who was in jail. AudioDoks' motives, however, are much different than those of the hip-hop star. “When people see me with the band-aid, I just want them to stop for a second and reflect about all the children in this world that do not have what we consider even the most basic right of a human being: the right to life. Change starts with each individual, and I'm just trying to do my part”.
