PRLog (Press Release) -
Nov. 22, 2011 - The Women's Initiative for Self Empowerment (WISE), Inc. has a new program, Professional Refugee Recertification Program, and is seeking participants for this program. This program assists refugees who have been in the United States less than five years and who were educated and licensed in other countries. This program offers free assistance to refugees with becoming licensed to practice their trained professions in Minnesota, or in the alternative, developing alternative career pathways. WISE works with refugees who were doctors, nurses, lawyers, accountants, teachers, and engineers in their own countries.
Through a combination of English language conversation classes, credentialing, scholarship assistance, mentoring, small group work, licensure navigation, and case management, the Professional Refugee Recertification Program gives refugee participants a framework for becoming licensed to practice their trained professions in Minnesota. If licensure requirements are difficult to meet for an individual refugee, WISE will work with a refugee participant to develop a suitable career pathway.
For more information about becoming a participant in this program, please contact Dr. Wilhelmina Holder at 651-646-3268.
