Nov. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Next Tuesday, November 29, the Manufacturing Council of the Waterbury Regional Chamber will host their first Manufacturing and Technology Expo to promote job opportunities in those industries and to educate Connecticut’s future workforce of those opportunities. Admission is free to the one day Expo to be held at the CoCo Key Hotel & Convention Center at 3580 East Main Street in Waterbury from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. At 3:00 p.m., Harry Moser, inductee into “Industry Week Magazine’s Hall of Fame”, and nationally-recognized founder of the Reshoring Initiative, will provide a keynote address.

“This inaugural Expo,” explained Lynn Ward, president and CEO of the Waterbury Regional Chamber, “will feature two distinctive and rewarding exhibition opportunities. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees can visit the Expo showcase to learn about the multitude of opportunities available to them in the future of the manufacturing and technology industries. Interactive games and presentations will be featured by exhibitors to engage visitors. At 3:00 p.m., we will welcome internationally-renowned reshoring expert, Harry Moser, who is the founder of the Reshoring Initiative that embraces the ambition to ‘bring manufacturing back home.’ Mr. Moser will speak on the very pressing issues of offshoring and reshoring, and what the best route is to take in sourcing decisions.”

Harry Moser was inducted by Industry Week Manufacturing Hall of Fame 2010, joining such notables as Jack Welch, Steve Jobs and Lee Iacocca. He writes and speaks nationally on the skilled manufacturing workforce, strategies for competing with LLC countries, strategies for revitalizing U.S. manufacturing, and on how President Obama’s and Congress’ actions and policies impact manufacturing.

During the past year, Moser founded and has led the Reshoring Initiative full-time with the objective of bringing manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. by helping manufacturers better understand the full cost of offshoring and the benefits of reshoring. He has appeared on CBS-TV and Lean Nation radio; he has been quoted in the “Wall Street Journal” and “USA TODAY”, and in numerous articles in the industry and supply chain press. He is on the board of NIMS (credentials for skilled manufacturing careers) and is president of SMTS (Swiss Machine Tool Society). In 1967, Harry Moser received a BS in ME and MS in Engineering at MIT; and he received an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Richard Dupont of Resource Development Associates, LLC, and chairman of the Waterbury Regional Chamber’s Manufacturing Council, explained, “An ambition of this Expo is to help overcome the misnomer that manufacturing is not a thriving industry at this time. Manufacturing actually is a major contributor to Connecticut’s workforce and for every manufacturing job, 3.5 service sector jobs are also created.”

CCAT-Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc. and the Regional Center for Next Genration Manufacturing are Gold Sponsors of the November 29 Expo in Waterbury. Silver Sponsors are the Bob Wesson Fund at the Connecticut Community Foundation; Northwest Regional Workforce Board (NRWIB); Small Business Development Center (SBDC); and the Smaller Manufacturers Association (SMA). Brass Sponsor is Hubbard-Hall.
