By: Kevin Zywiol Life Choices provides a central access point, services and support to children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. The exhibition by the consumers is part of the Winter Art Market, hosted by Wayne State’s art department, featuring unique pieces from students, alumni and local community organizations. “We’re thrilled to see our consumers participate in such a festive cultural event, proving that tools used for therapy also have beauty and monetary value,” said Penny Thomas, unit director of NSO Life Choices. The holiday celebration in the city’s Midtown cultural center will feature free family activities at more than 60 venues, including the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit Historical Museum, Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Public Library and the Detroit Science Center. Area shops, businesses and restaurants will also participate in the late fall “open house,” which will stretch along Woodward Avenue, extending from Alexandrine on the south to Palmer on the north and west to east from Cass to St. Antoine. Additionally, Noel Night visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, arts and crafts, free food samples, holiday shopping, and performances by more than 120 music, theater and dance groups.
