Miss Zimbabwe UK wins Woman of the Match Award

Nov. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- With a Woman of the Match Award under her belt in her first match for Lincoln’s Women Football Club, the season looks bright for this year's Miss Zimbabwe UK star. “I feel at home in my new team and cannot wait for the rest of the season!”  

The centre back was under immense pressure to deliver, and deliver she did! With a powerful voice that echoed all around the pitch, she commanded the back four with remarkable confidence. This, along with the vigilance of the other girls, gave a number of off side decisions Lincoln’s way.

“People always tell me they can ‘hear’ my passion for football. I am always very loud when I step on the pitch because I get so absorbed in the game. Even if we are not winning, my voice is always encouraging the girls to keep their heads up” Faith explained.

Faith is a  key member of the team. Numerous times she used her explosive pace to extinguish the fire of the other team’s attacks.  She was extremely solid in her tackles which was evidently frustrating to the opposition. Not to mention her goal line clearance in the first half of the match, which resulted in a goal minutes later. In addition to this, she was not scared to battle in the air to win crucial headers throughout the game. This made her one of the Lincoln players who stood out during the game.  

Although the end result was not in their favour, Faith was eager to show pride in the team’s performance saying  “ I am  proud of the way the team worked hard and put  100% effort for the full 90 minutes. The team has a lot of new players so it is only natural that the communication could have been stronger.  Even though it was our first game, our attack and defence worked very well as a unit. The midfield got back very quickly to defend, which gave us a lot of opportunities to counter attack. That is how we got one of our goals”.

Faith was keen to tell us about her plans as Miss Zimbabwe UK. “I have chosen to use my platform to gain awareness and recognition for football in Zimbabwe; especially for women’s football. I plan to champion taking women’s football to the next level and developing the next generation of Zimbabwean football stars. Having played competitive football at University level, Club level and for a Centre of Excellence, I am very enthusiastic to share my training and experience to achieve our goal. I want to start a football campaign called ‘Off Side’ to help show child poverty in Zimbabwe the Red card”
