Follow on Google News | Ex-Catholic Editor Publishes ebook about His Transition to JudaismColorado Springs publishing consultant Kenneth Guentert has published his own 50,000-word memoir, From Rome to Jerusalem: A Non-Jew on the Way, about his decades long transition from Catholicism to Judaism.
The book is available for $9.95 at smashwords.com, a website that enables publishers and authors to distribute their books as multi-format ebooks. Visit http://www.smashwords.com/ "This book is not a polemic against the church," Guentert said. "Because I've been involved in Catholic publishing for most of my career, I'm an unlikely candidate to move toward Orthodox Judaism. People kept asking me to write my memoir—and explain myself. I finally did it." Guentert was a seminarian for six years and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. His first job out of college was as a staff writer for the The New World, the official newspaper for the Archdiocese of Chicago. After that he served as an editor for U.S. Catholic, the National Catholic Reporter, and Modern Liturgy. Today, he is president of The Publishing Pro, LLC, which makes professional publishing accessible—and fun—to everyone. In a chapter entitled "The Misfortune of Good Marriage," he explains that his wife has remained a Catholic and he is therefore not qualified to convert to Judaism under Orthodox auspices. Nevertheless, he remains committed to Torah observance. End
