Local Solar Installer Shines Big Amid Competition

New England Breeze Solar Fits 75 Harvard Households for Solar as Selected Integrator of Solarize Massachusetts Pilot Program

PRLog - Nov. 21, 2011 - Hudson, MA - Mark Durrenberger founded New England Breeze Solar in 2006 with the intention of Saving the Planet with Sunshine. At the time the Massachusetts solar market was relatively quiet. Today Massachusetts boasts a thriving SREC market and healthy state incentives and is considered one of the top five states for solar power. Durrenberger's intentionally small company is defying the odds and stacking up big against large out of state conglomerates that have moved in to divvy up the solar pie.

"Our focus is on customer service and quality installation," says Durrenberger, "In an era of cookie cutter solar installers, New England Breeze Solar separates itself from the competition by providing customizations that other installers don't."

The most recent spike in sales is due to the company's extraordinary success in the Solarize Massachusetts program. The administrator of the state solar rebate program, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), selected New England Breeze Solar as the integrator for the Solarize Massachusetts pilot program in the town of Harvard. The program was launched to increase the widespread adoption of solar power through community outreach and volume discounts during a limited time offer.

Durrenberger's company was the smallest of three selected integrators, yet outperformed the larger installers. At the program's completion, Durrenberger had contracted over 400 kilowatts (kW) to a town of 1,800 homes. This was more than triple the amount of solar sold by a much larger installer in a nearby city with a population triple the size of the town of Harvard. New England Breeze Solar is a small and efficient powerhouse.

Durrenberger believes the unprecedented success his company achieved as part of the Solarize Massachusetts program has directly translated to more solar customers. "Being selected by the state adds a level of consumer confidence," Durrenberger says, "The Massachusetts solar system buyer is a shrewd customer. They look for value, quality and reliability. They want to know their solar installer has a proven track record, and plans to stay in town for the long haul."

New England Breeze Solar owners are Massachusetts natives who plan to be in town long after the competition has moved on to greener pastures.
