Nov. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- It may often seem irrelevant to many small and large businesses and an aspect of print advertising that never occurs to us but most recipients of your advertising leaflets and brochures are judged on first impressions and the way the design looks and is perceived. This happens even before the text is read and digested which doesn’t give you much time for first impressions and highlights the very important fact that all advertising whether that be leaflets, postcards or any other means of advertising, needs to be as professional as it can be.

As well as having excellent design, any print advertising has to get the message across clearly and concisely to ensure that customers are aware exactly what you are advertising, having good design is great but you may lose customers from confusing and misleading text and text that is far too complicated. Customers may put leaflets and postcards away and simply feel they are too confusing.

Many forms of print advertising are still very popular and effective but there are golden rules that must be followed to ensure you and your business get the best from your advertising and marketing. Postcard advertising has been a popular form of advertising for years and still remains popular today as a low cost way to both advertise our company and services and communicate with our customers.

Postcard advertising is incredibly versatile and there are lots of different options available to customers, folded postcards are a great way to include more advertising design and text and the single postcards are cheap to mail and they are not hidden in envelopes, this ensures that the full advertisement, design and text is visible at all times.

If you are using single postcard advertising, always keep your advertising purpose in mind and don’t become easily swayed with other aspects of the design, having little space means you have to be direct and keep things concise and simple.  Companies can achieve this by creating a catchy and edgy headline that will instantly grab your customer’s attention and entice them to read more. Always ensure that the headline is not misleading and describes exactly the purpose of the advertisement.

Including an offer or promotion is always an excellent idea and encourages customers to keep on reading and ensure that the offer or promotion is easy to understand and instructions are clear.

Lastly don’t waste valuable postcard advertising by directing your postcards to the wrong target audience, know your customer base and target those only, very often advertising money can and is often wasted when advertising is targeted at the wrong customer base and this not only wastes money but can result in a company’s advertising campaign failing miserably.
