Melbourne, Australia - Independent developer, Peter Easdown of pkclSoft has released his second kids educational app, Math Plus Minus 1.0. Math Plus Minus is his latest app, developed for the Apple iPhone and iPad devices, for kids in primary (Australia) or elementary (United States) schools, specifically in grades 1 to 6.
Peter is a developer with a long history of quality work with attention to detail.
With Math Plus Minus the student is able to set his or her skill level by telling the app just how large a number he or she can add or subtract. The game will then randomly choose a number of questions (the number can be configured as well, from 10 to 100), and quiz the player.
A running score is kept, with active animations, and a terrific musical score in the background. Scores are automatically submitted to Apple's Game Center if the player is logged in.
For kids that feel that they have developed enough skill with addition and subtraction, a second, "Challenge" game is included that will pose a sequence of questions, one at a time, but rather than ask for the answer to an addition or subtraction, it will ask the player questions of the form:
5 + ? = 9
Where the player must answer by selecting the correct number to fit into the equation.
By including this extra game, the app becomes more useful for kids in grades 4 to 6. Children in grades 1 to 3 will benefit from the main game more as it is a slower paced game in which the player need not play against the clock.
