Green B.E.A.N. Delivery and WCBE-FM kick off second annual food drive to benefit Mid-Ohio Foodbank

Organic produce and natural grocery delivery service will donate two pounds of food for every monetary contribution listeners make to WCBE-FM (90.5) from Nov. 21-Dec. 31

Nov. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 14, 2011) – Green B.E.A.N. Delivery, a company that delivers organic produce and natural groceries to Columbus homes and workplaces, and WCBE-FM (90.5) are running their second annual food drive to benefit the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. For every monetary pledge made to WCBE-FM from Nov. 21-Dec. 31, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery will donate two pounds of food to help the less fortunate members of the local community.

During the week of Dec. 19-26, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery will increase its donation to four pounds of food for each pledge made.

“Community food drives are extremely important to the Foodbank as the holidays approach and the winter months set in,” said Matt Habash, president and CEO of Mid-Ohio Foodbank. “To have Green B.E.A.N. Delivery and WCBE step up with a combined effort of this magnitude is fantastic, and will help ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.”

Throughout the 31-day food drive in 2010, 847 Columbus residents made monetary contributions, resulting in Green B.E.A.N. Delivery donating 1,700 pounds of fresh produce to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. The goal is to double that amount during this year’s food drive.

"The Central Ohio community is always incredibly generous to us during the holidays, and by partnering with these two organizations we're able to pass the generosity of our members forward,” said Richelle Antczak McCuen, membership director for WCBE. “It's the gift that keeps on giving."

For 30 years, Mid-Ohio Foodbank has been working with grocers, food companies, Ohio farmers, the USDA and community partners to obtain food and distribute it to more than 500 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs and senior housing sites across Central and Eastern Ohio.
Green B.E.A.N. Delivery is a company that provides home delivery of organic produce and natural groceries to Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky residents. One of the company’s primary missions is the fight against hunger. To date, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery has raised more than 7,000 pounds of food for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

“Mid-Ohio Foodbank and WCBE are two of our closest partners in Central Ohio,” said Matt Ewer, president of Green B.E.A.N. Delivery. “Supporting both organizations with one initiative like this allows us to take a holistic approach to maximizing community benefit. We can help Mid-Ohio Foodbank feed people’s bodies, while helping WCBE feed people’s minds and souls.”
