GFSR Looks at LiftnBuddy for Hand truck Safety

Nov. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Hand trucks, two-wheelers, and lifting devices, have changed little in the past hundred years. Heavy-duty hand trucks of the past caused more than one-third of all material-handling injuries, whether used in deliveries, moving product in a food warehouse or food manufacturing plant floor.

In an article in the current issue of the Global Food Safety Resource Centre News, manufacturing journalist TR Cutler examines the role of                                  Hand Truck Safety in the Food and Beverage industry.  According to Cutler, “Workforce health and safety is paramount and the data clearly shows that repetitive lifting, lowering, and moving injuries costs North American businesses millions of dollars each year. Automating those potentially dangerous tasks significantly reduces the potential for injuries and costly downtime.  The food and beverage industry is most prone to these types of costly injuries because it is in these plants and warehouses that improper and heavy lifting most often takes place.”

Aaron Lamb, inventor of Lift’n Buddy noted, “Employees repeatedly move products from a delivery truck to a hand truck or stack. Product can be moved and stacked to shoulder height…it may need to be lowered to ground level.
