Nov. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Never in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has there been a lasting health legacy. The FIA and IMSPA Industry Summit presents the opportunity to change this, and make the UK legacy ready.

Delegates at the FIA and IMSPA Industry Summit on 29th November will benefit from a plethora of leading voices across politics, economics and the Games to debate and draw conclusions on how the industry can work together to action the first ever Games health legacy.

Hosted by TV and radio sports broadcaster John Inverdale, Industry Summit speakers include Rt. Hon. Anne Milton MP, Public Health Minister, Rt. Hon. Tessa Jowell MP, Shadow Olympics Minister, Richard Lewis the Chair of Sport England, Miles Templeman the Chairman of the Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity and Dr. Richard Budgett OBE, Chief Medical Officer for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Miles Templeman, recently appointed as Chair of IMSPA said “There are many strands of Olympic Legacy including infrastructure, employment and innovation, but undoubtedly most pertinent to our sector, is the legacy associated with sport and physical activity participation. The debate is critical to ensure that we are all working together to bring about a lasting legacy for the health of the nation.”

•   Lord Coe accepted an invitation to be the first ‘IMSPA Companion’ in September 2011  
•   From January 2012 IMSPA will operate as a Chartered body having received final approval from the Royal Privy Council in October 2011.
•   Miles Templeman, former Director General of the Institute of Directors was appointed as Chair of IMSPA in October 2011. Miles also holds a position as a non-executive Director on the management board of the RFU.
