Follow on Google News | ALRA holding auditions for its Acting courses in New York CityALRA is heading across the Atlantic to audition in New York City on Saturday 17 December. Applications for the New York audition are now open.
By: ALRA The audition venue is: Circle in the Square Theatre 1633 Broadway (at 50th Street) New York NY 10019 Arrive at 9.30am for a 10am start. The workshop and the audition can be booked individually or together (for a discounted rate). WORKSHOP: 'THE UK ACTING SCENE' Start: 10am Cost: £30 [£45 for both the workshop and the audition] In this 60 minute workshop Clive Duncan, Co-Director of ALRA, explores what is expected of the UK actor; the areas or work on offer, how auditions and interviews are conducted, the marketing tools needed to find work, and union and legal requirements. This workshop is suitable for anyone considering studying and/or working as a professional actor in the UK. AUDITIONS Start: 11am Audition fee: £35 [£45 for both the workshop and the audition] Applicants for the Three Year Acting course and the Postgraduate Acting course should use our online application system to submit their details, upload a photo and pay the audition fee. Head to the ALRA website (www.alra.co.uk) During the application process please select 'ALRA Audition - New York' from the list of venues'. You will receive confirmation of your audition date by email at the end of the application process, along with relevant audition guidelines and information on how to find us. All subsequent correspondence from ALRA will be by email only unless specifically requested. Please ensure your email address is correct. International Applicants Advice on possible funding streams for US students planning study in the UK can be found on the Federal Student Aid website. ALRA welcomes applications from international candidates whose written and spoken English is of a level appropriate to professional actor training. This will be assessed at audition. Non-EU applicants must obtain a student visa to cover the duration of their studies. Attendance at a scheduled ALRA audition is compulsory. Pre-recorded audition videos are not acceptable; however ALRA can view international applicants' audition videos as a precursor to inviting them for a full audition. Deferred Entry We are unable to consider applications for deferred entry to any of the Acting courses, neither can entry be deferred if you successfully audition and are offered a place. Auditions Entry to the Acting courses is by audition only. Wherever you audition the process will be conducted by ALRA staff members and will be fair and rigorous. In all instances you will be asked to present two contrasting monologues of not more than two minutes each. In 2009/10, we auditioned more than 1200 applicants. Due to the large numbers of candidates applying, we regret that we are unable to provide individual feedback. The decision of the school is final.
