World's 1st Social Selling Site Focuses On User Safety

Nov. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Lowell, NC, 11/17/2011 – A Lowell NC man, Bill Guyther, stumbled upon a new way to buy and sell. He calls it Social Selling. Initially developed on Facebook, to find a dog, Bill realized that people really liked the concept. So much so that the user base grew from nothing when it was first started on January 13, 2011 to nearly 60,000 users today.
Realizing the new and exciting concept, Guyther took the bull by the horns and assembled a Team to build the first ever Social Selling web site. It’s called One Man’s Junk or member deemed as OMJ!

What makes this site different? It’s personal. It combines the Social aspect of Social Networking type sites (ie Facebook) and the selling aspect of classified selling sites (ie Craigslist). On the site, www.OMJlist.com, you create a profile, add friends and communicate in real time. Even if you don’t know someone that has something listed, you can go to their profile and see them, see what friends you have in common and even see how others have Rated them from doing business with them.

As Guyther was dreaming up this unprecedented venture, one thing became a main focus…Member Safety. Because most people on the site do business with other locals to avoid shipping and other fees, Guyther knew this had to be priority #1. Although being able to see who you are dealing with does help that issue, there had to be an even better way. So the Verified member was born. This is an optional member upgrade on the site. For only $12 a year, OMJ! puts that member through a background check to be sure they are not a Convicted Felon or Sex Offender and that they are true to their profile on the site. Verified members are identified in the OMJ! community with a VERIFIED banner on their profile picture.

The Official OMJ! web site just launched on September 5, 2011 but it’s 1st 60 days have been impressive to say the least. 3,061 Members register from 26 States and 1 Province in Canada. Nearly 100 of those became VERIFIED Members. 27,350 Unique Visits logging in a total of 77,493 times viewing 10.6 Million Pages totaling 19.9 Million Hits to the site. Alexa.com has ranked OMJlist (without having 90 days worth of data) in the top 110,000 sites in all of the US and in the top 1,200 sites in the Charlotte NC area. Guyther expects it to be the next big thing on the internet.

OMJlist is live and working with the OMJ! Classifieds but will have some serious enhancements very soon. One that Guyther is most excited about is OMJ! Auctions. Although any registered member of OMJ! will be able to shop and bid in OMJ! Auctions, listing in the Auctions section will be reserved to Verified members.
