Voice over casting site releases surprising numbers about voice casting

The casting system creating controversy among voice talent for its policy of trying to create a fair marketplace. For a long time, Voice123 was viewed as possibly being a cattle-call type of casting website, where you had to audition first before anyone else in order to have any chance of booking work.

Today, Voice123 released numbers to prove otherwise, listing averages discovered through all of the jobs and auditions posted on Voice123. Voice123 reports:


The average of auditions requested by a voice seeker aka client hiring voice talent is 50, which is actually the default number for requests set by the website. This generally means voice seekers are not personalizing how many auditions they want. The average amount of auditions received is 11. This means there are not that many people to audition against.

On average, requests by voice seekers matched to 651 people, leading to an average of 493 invites being sent. This number (493) is affected by such things as voice talent being selective, projects closing early, or voice seekers being vague in their desire for what they want. Obviously, the more vague, the less the auditions received.

Average amount of direct invites per job? Two.  Direct invites are sent, normally, when the initial job posting is not yielding results. Such a low number indicates the casting software is indeed serving voice talent and voice seekers at the same time.

The averages made available were from statistics gathered from October and November 2011. Voice123 is the largest, and first, voice over casting site of its kind.
