"There's something about fantasy that stretches our imaginations. It allows us to conjure the impossible, to create infinite possibilities because the rules have suddenly been thrown out and redesigned,”
Shea Berkley is currently working on the next book in the series, The Lost Prince, publishing in 2012. The Bastard King will complete the trilogy in 2013.

Praise for The Marked Son:
"Reading Shea Berkley is like watching magic unfold before your eyes. THE MARKED SON is written with such intrigue and depth, I could not get enough of this delicious tale. I'm hopelessly lost and can hardly wait to see what jewels Berkley has in store for us next." ~Darynda Jones, author of First Grave on the Right
“An amazing debut from a talented author who I expect to see on bestseller lists soon. Shea's hero is a boy who grabs you by the heart from the first page as he tries to discover who he is, and realizes very quickly he is more than he ever believed. I was crying for him one moment and cheering the next.” ~Robin Perini, author of In Her Sights
"WOW! I finished The Marked Son thirty minutes ago and my heart is still racing. This book is amazing. It's like I took off on the most fantastic paranormal fantasy adventure ride, and still haven't touched ground."~I Heart YA Books
"What I loved about this story was being inside Dylan's head. It's different and unique to live a story from the guy's point of view, and Dylan Kennedy is an amazing character. What he grew up dealing with, a mother that cared little for him, made him into a tough guy, but vulnerable, too…" ~YA Bound
"The Marked Son takes you on a journey from the very first page until the very end. You never know what to expect and I think that's truly the magic in this story, there's always a surprise - you're always on the edge of your seat wondering." ~YA Book Haven
About the author: Shea Berkley started out writing nonfiction (not so fun) and quickly moved into fiction (totally fun), and knew she’d found her calling. (Her family was thrilled she’d found friends to play with even if they weren’t technically real.) She’s still pleasantly surprised people are willing to pay to read her stories.
Besides writing, her many diversions include kickboxing, reading awesome books and hanging out with her loud and rambunctious family. With five kids (all girls), her biggest job is to make sure the little darlings don’t harass the neighbors and then play dumb when the cops come knocking on her door.
