Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Holistic Addiction Treatment Center in North Miami Beach, Fl. – have been pioneers in the addiction treatment field. Their individual and combined contributions are many. According to their JCAHO compliance officer, Rich Murphy, G & G Holistic Addiction Treatment Center is the only holistic addiction treatment facility in America to be awarded a Gold Seal by the Joint Commission.

Throughout their careers, both Giordano and Goldfarb have been disappointed with the slow pace of the addiction treatment community’s acceptance of successful and proven treatment modalities. But then again, Giordano and Goldfarb’s core principles challenge the very foundation of conventional addiction treatment.

Drug abuse, whether illicit or prescription, throws the abuser completely out of balance – it destroys vital body and brain cells by the millions. Elementary logic dictates that to be effective in treating addiction, these issues need to be tended to. Yet, the damaging physical aspect of drug and alcohol abuse is rarely addressed by the majority of traditional treatment facilities.

Giordano believes that, although the 12 step programs as well as therapy are important components, they are merely a piece in the mosaic of effective addiction treatment. To be successful, Giordano has found through his vast experience that it is essential to treat the body, mind and spirit.

In developing his protocols, Giordano has drawn upon the expertise of some of the most recognizable names in science today; including: Dr. Stephen J. Schoenthaler, PhD 1991 Nomination for Nobel Laureate, Doctorates in Sociological Theory; Dr. Deborah C. Mash, PhD., Professor of Neurology and Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami School of Medicine; Dr. Kenneth Blum PhD., co-founder of the correlation between the Dopamine D2 Receptor Taq 1 allele with alcoholism and Dr. Paul Harch, MD, Hyperbaric Medicine and Undersea Medicine and to name just a mere few.

Other noted doctors and researchers have gone on record stating that more has been learned about antioxidants and free radicals in the last twenty-five years than all of the prior related discoveries combined. One of their most relevant finds was that external free radicals form in large quantities from environmental factors such as poor diet, pollution, radiation, smoking, drugs and alcohol. Our bodies have greater difficulty defending itself against free radicals from external sources as compared to internal sources.

Free radicals are unstable molecules that roam our bodies in search of stable molecules. Once they’ve located their prey, the free radicals rob the stable molecule of its life giving electron; leaving in its wake dead molecules and a damaged system. The body is left to rust just like an old car in a farmer’s field. Drug and alcohol use accelerates the process.

There have also been huge discoveries in brain function, damage and repair in the last few decades. Over fifty neurotransmitters have been identified in this time-frame. Scientists have conducted extensive studies and identified the amino acids essential for proper brain function. Dr. Paul Harch, author of "The Oxygen Revolution," has experienced ground-breaking successes in repairing damaged brain cells with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Giordano says the human brain is the most active and undernourished organ in the body. It uses twenty percent of the body’s total energy supply – and twenty-five percent of the body’s total oxygen intake is carried to the brain by the blood at a rate of 1½ pints per minute. Drug and/or alcohol abuse deprives the brain of oxygen, depletes it of necessary amino acids and nutrients while it kills other cells.

According to Giordano, the U.S. is just now catching-up to the rest of the world in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Russia has been using HBOT as it is known, for drug and alcohol detoxification for over twenty-years. He first saw the potential in HBOT when he came to learn that large doses of oxygen can improve brain functions – thus helping a person who has damaged their brain by abusing drugs and/or alcohol over extended periods of time.

All of the aforementioned were taken into consideration when Mr. Giordano first decided to develop his latest modalities. Good nutrition has always been a cornerstone at G & G Holistic Addiction Treatment Center; but John thought it was necessary to take it to a higher level. He began with hair, blood, saliva or urine analysis to determine his clients’ vitamin and nutritional deficiencies. Once identified, Giordano was able to counter-balance the deficiencies with a regime of vitamins high in antioxidants and amino acids. Each program is individually designed for each client.

In addition to the antioxidants and amino acid therapy, Mr. Giordano introduced Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. HBOT is the medical use of oxygen at a level higher than atmospheric pressure. With HBOT, oxygen is dissolved into all of the body's fluids, the plasma, the central nervous system fluids, the lymph and the bone – and can be carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked. This therapy is exceptionally successful in repairing damaged brain cells due to drug and/or alcohol abuse.

The results of combining these three therapies have been nothing short of amazing. Within just a couple of short weeks, clients have expressed that they’re feeling much healthier and experiencing far greater clarity of thought. Giordano firmly believes that the modalities he’s developed have added greatly to the over-all quality of services he provides. G & G Holistic Addiction Treatment Center consistently enjoys one of the highest success rates in the country.

Addiction treatment, like any industry, is slow to change. Mr. Giordano and Goldfarb are realistic to the fact that it takes time for new modalities to enter the mainstream. Yet that does not deter them from methodically improving the quality and outcome of addiction treatment at G & G Holistic Addiction Treatment Center – and hopefully, at some point in time, everywhere.
