New Website Launches Contest Offering Money For Funny Home Videos

Will “America’s Funniest Home Videos” work on the Internet? Phil Novara and Brad Hogan believe so as they launch their new funny video contest called BlooperBox.

Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- St. Louis, Mo. – Nov 15 – Earlier this year, Phil Novara noticed his girlfriend uncontrollably laughing at the  long running television series called “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” He knew the concept wasn’t new. There are thousands of funny video sites on the Internet, but none have successfully executed an ongoing contest. Could the concept possibly work on the Internet?

He picked up the phone to call his partner Brad Hogan and pitched him the website. Brad was instantly convinced, and BlooperBox was born on July 23, 2011.

The two partners set out to create a weekly funny video contest that pays $50.00 cash winnings to contestants. Every week users upload their videos, people vote, and the video with the most votes wins.

According to Nielsen Wire, online video consumption is up 45% in 2011, and the partners want to capitalize on that trend.  They believe if "America's Funniest Home Videos" can successfully capture a television audience for 22 seasons, then an Internet version will also work as more eyeballs shift online in 2012.

Phil explained “We want to create something entertaining, have some laughs, and give away prizes along the way.” That’s exactly their goal as they continue building the site. The goal is to automate the contest and adopt weekly sponsors from local businesses.

The first contest is set to air on Monday 11/21 at 12:00am. If you’re interested in learning more about BlooperBox or entering the contest – visit http://www.blooperbox.com and sign up.
