Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- CHICAGO—Celebrate the holidays German-style! Lincoln Square Christkindl Market returns for its fourth year of cheer to the eponymous north side Chicago neighborhood on Friday-Sunday, December 2-4.

Held in (and surrounding) the square off Lincoln Avenue and Leland (4700 North, adjacent to the CTA's Western Avenue Brown Line stop), fest highlights include…

•A large heated tent featuring nearly 40  market vendors selling an eclectic mix of holiday crafts and goodies.

•Another heated tent with German foods (goulash, sausages, apple strudel, etc.) prepared by Austrian-born chef Martin Wallner (who spent years working for Wolfgang Puck), warm beverages which include such seasonal faves as gluhwein (spice-filled wine)  and, of course, beers.

•The Kids' Korner (inside a tent) where the young one's can decorate cookies, make wreaths and create  ornaments. Kids' Korner hours are 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday; 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

•There will also be  a music stage, and St. Nick is set to make a stop at the fest from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

•In addition, carolers will get visitors in the holiday spirit throughout the weekend. A tree lighting ceremony takes place on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at nearby Giddings Plaza, 4731 N. Lincoln.

•There will also be free Christkindl trolley rides for kids, families and visitors to enjoy in a route traversing the immediate neighborhood from Noon-4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. (Its parameters  includes Lawrence on the north, Montrose on the south, Damen on the east, and Rockwell on the west.)

•In addition, the fest's annual St. Nicholas Shoe Drive invites the public to again donate footwear for the needy.

The neighborhood's St. Matthias Parish sponsors, and proceeds benefit, St. Matthias Parish and School, the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Square Foundation.

Lincoln Square Christkindl Market hours are: Noon-10:00 p.m. on Friday; 9:00 a.m-10:00  p.m. on Saturday; and 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Adult donation is $5 ($10 for a three-day pass).
