SDH moves into domestic heat pumps

Bolton-based SDH Building Services Limited has branched out into the emerging domestic heat pumps’ market.

Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- The company, which provides mechanical, electrical, air conditioning and plumbing services for commercial buildings such as supermarkets, hotels, offices, restaurants and factories across the country, is also now installing heat pumps in domestic properties.

Domestic heat pumps are an alternative way for households to heat their water and provide central heating.

They work by taking the warmth from outside air and transferring it inside the home to heat the water and radiators.

Domestic heat pumps can be a viable option for all housing types including detached properties, semi-detached, terraced houses, apartments and even social housing.

Steve Hunt, Managing Director of SDH Building Services Limited, said: “Whilst we know that this is a new market, very much in its infancy, we believe that more and more households will consider alternatives to conventional heating systems both for environmental and financial reasons.

“Householders can make real cost savings on their annual utility bills using a domestic heat pump rather than a traditional gas boiler or oil-fired boiler. They can also reduce their carbon dioxide emissions significantly too.”

The main benefits of domestic heat pumps include reduced energy consumption and therefore lower bills for consumers.

Steve added: “Besides reducing energy and cutting their annual fuel bills, householders are also less reliant on changes to future gas prices.”

Government grants of up to £850 are available towards the cost of the installation.
Finance is also available and typical pay back is 3 to 5 years, says Steve.

“Heat pumps are already popular in Denmark, Sweden and France, and are expected to become popular in the UK in the near future due to the benefits that they offer householders,” added Steve.
