Are you looking for something new and exciting to read?  Midlands based Anthony Bellaleigh’s debut novel Firebird is lighting up Kindle e-readers around the world with its complex mixture of full throttle action, adventure and suspense.  First published in May, it has spent several months in Amazon’s UK Top 100 Technothriller chart; no mean feat given the number of new releases being published every day.

FIREBIRD

Set around the Mediterranean seaboard and traveling through Greece, Italy and North Africa, Firebird tells the thrilling tale of an eclectic group of soldiers and civilians as they pursue an ancient creature which has inadvertently been set free by an industrial accident.  This monstrous creature is remembered only as myth.  A myth which has forgotten the associated bloodshed, death and destruction.  A myth which has forgotten one really important fact: it is ignored by the human eye.

No-one is safe, humankind has been toppled from the top of the food chain and, now, only one man on the planet has the knowledge to track it down...

Readers are describing Firebird as a “page turner”, that “rips along” and, in one case, simply “wow”!  One Canadian reader recently described her reading experience as: “I felt I was center stage watching everything unfold.  Sometimes it made me laugh.  It also made me gasp and shed a tear... [an] amazing, fantastic plot-driven story.”

Firebird is not one of the recent rash of quickly written eNovellas that have been flooding ebook shelves since the hype about Kindles and Nooks broke a few months ago.  At over one hundred thousand words, and the equivalent of a 450 page printed book, Firebird is a full length action thriller crafted over many years of careful drafting and editing.  A sci-fi technothriller, Firebird was released in May 2011 and is available as a Kindle ebook on Amazon.

Bellaleigh is more circumspect.  “I’m just pleased that it’s getting read and enjoyed,” he says, with a wry smile.  “A story only really comes to life when it is shared.”

Amazon ebooks can be read on a wide variety of platforms including Kindle, iPad, iPhone, tablet PC’s, Blackberry and Android devices.  A wide range of free downloadable Kindle Apps are available which provide immediate access to a truly staggering library of over 750,000 books, newspapers and magazines.

When asked about why he prefers the Kindle platform, Anthony says, “I never thought I’d abandon paper books until I saw a Kindle.  They offer so many advantages including the ability to preview books before buying.  The first forty pages of Firebird are available as Sample Chapters so that people can try it out for free.”
