The designers of the MeltView PACT say that orbital welding was one the applications that was top in their minds when they were designing the miniature camera. The distance between the lens and melt pool can be as small as 8cm, and the camera has integrated water cooling and an air-knife to protect it from the heat, spatter and/or metal vapour associated with a small working distance.
The integrated water-cooling also means that the camera can be employed when temperatures are over 50C (the normal operating limit for camera electronics)
The MeltView PACT is not just cooled, it looks cool. FABTECH attendees have been admiring the sleek black finish and fine features on such a small camera. But what's inside the camera is equally impressive. MeltView technology means that the camera automatically adjusts to arc-on and arc-off conditions and gives a clear picture of the arc, melt pool and wire, if used, during welding. Also on display at FABTECH is MeltTools flagship camera, the MeltView 100 - a high-dynamic-
MeltTools' expertise in arc processing sets it apart from other machine vision companies. They know the challenges of welding and configure camera systems for many automated and mechanized applications, including bore and pipe cladding, orbital welding, shipbuilding and micro-welding.
If you are in the Chicago area you can visit MeltTools at FABTECH, booth 5320, through Thursday Nov. 17th. Otherwise you can check them out online at http://www.melttools.com.
