Such are the cornerstone values upon which Beasley has built Your Senior Care Choice, Inc., a St. Charles-based provider of care services to elders throughout the western suburbs.
Beasley learned firsthand how important offering quality care is to a senior in need when an older relative was diagnosed with cancer a few years back. Frustrated by indifferent caregivers and inattentive health care providers who weren’t making her loved one’s comfort a priority at the time, Beasley used that challenging experience as motivation to launch Your Senior Care Choice in 2011.
“My passion is in working closely with people, solving problems, improving quality of life, and making a difference in the lives of others,” said Beasley, who previously worked in the homebuilding industry catering to home buyer customers. “I always thought, there’s got to be a better way to get seniors the care they need and deserve. It starts by making a commitment to listen to their needs, pay attention, be responsive, and thinking of them as your own mother or father. How would you want your mother to be treated? What would it take to make your father feel happy, safe, and healthy?”
But establishing a strong work ethic and core principles wasn’t enough. Beasley has adopted a concierge approach to caregiving in which a wide variety of services are offered—from round-the-clock live-in care and meal preparation to weekly housekeeping and occasional companionship. Elders and their loved ones would be able to choose from a menu of services that could either fill in gaps for clients who could live independently or provide comprehensive solutions for more dependent seniors.
Driven by her ambition, Beasley assembled a carefully screened team of experts who share the same dedication and enthusiasm for working with seniors. Her staff now includes client care manager Hilary McCormick, as well as dozens of full-, part-time, and on-call caregivers who are assigned to different clients.
“What sets us apart from other agencies is our level of individualized attention. Hilary and I are personally involved with the seniors we care for,” Beasley said. “We visit with each new client and scrutinize their unique situation carefully, making sure to match them up with the ideal caregiver based on need, preferences, and personality. And we follow up with all clients regularly to ensure that they’re happy with their caregivers and the services they’re receiving. When you call our company, you don’t get shuffled around. You can talk directly to me, and if I’m not available at that moment, I always call back promptly.”
Beasley said it’s a common misconception that seniors who either live independently or in an assisted living facility find a way to have all their needs addressed.
“Their children and loved ones often think that everything gets taken care of, but that isn’t the case. Often, elders aren’t able to get rides to and from the places they want to go to,” said Beasley. “They’re commonly lonely and in need of someone to talk to. It’s easy for them to forget to take their medications, keep up with laundry, and care for a pet. We fill in those gaps for people, and when a greater level of care is needed, we’re available round-the-clock with live-in services, as well.”
Beasley’s clients include a Roselle couple in their late nineties who can still generally take care of themselves, but require extra help with morning preparations, planning meals, and completing needed tasks before their children return from work in the evening.
Another client, who was exhausted from caring for his 66-year-old father in Naperville suffering from cancer, diabetes, and liver poisoning, got to take a break when a Your Senior Care Choice caregiver stepped in to help.
And after a 94-year-old Bloomingdale client passed away earlier this year, her son reenlisted Beasley’s services for himself when he was diagnosed with cancer and needed assistance.
“Ours will always be a small company where we’ll always know you personally by name,” Beasley insisted. “We’re not looking to grow too big, where you run the risk of diluting your services and becoming homogenized and impersonal. We’re content staying in the limited territories we know and love—family friendly towns like St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Bartlett, Naperville, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Downers Grove, and Plainfield.
What’s more, Beasley added, “Your Senior Care Choice will remain devoted to ensuring the complete satisfaction of the clients we’re privileged to serve. Our focus has been and always will be quality, not quantity. We help others help themselves by rendering dependable care, nurturing relationships, and enabling a more active lifestyle.”
