HyProCure® Implant Crossing Boarders into Ecuador

Surgeon from Bellmore, NY with vast experience using GraMedica®’s innovative sinus tarsi implant travels to Ecuador to educate and demonstrate the surgical procedure.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 14, 2011 - Juan C. Goez, DPM and podiatric surgeon with a practice in Bellmore, NY, enjoys sharing his knowledge and expertise. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he has been reaching out to surgeons in Spanish speaking countries. In his latest outreach, Dr. Goez traveled to Ecuador from September 22-24, 2011.

This was not the first time Dr. Goez journeyed to Ecuador; when GraMedica®, a global orthopedic medical device company and leader in foot care solutions, first began distributing there two years ago, he was asked to lecture to a group of doctors on the HyProCure®  sinus tarsi stent. Having achieved the “Master HyProCure®  Surgeon” credential, the highest recognition level offered by the Graham International Implant Institute, GraMedica®’s training partner, Dr. Goez was more than qualified to demonstrate the procedure and speak on the positive effects revealed by his own patients. Dr. Goez made a strong impression and a relationship of mutual respect was born.

More doctors expressed an interest in learning about the procedure. A second trip was arranged. However, while planning was still underway, local Ecuadorian doctors identified a 16 year old child that had been suffering with severely painful talotarsal dislocation syndrome and requested Dr. Goez perform the HyProCure®  surgery. Dr. Goez recognized the opportunity to not only help more doctors understand this life-changing procedure but to help a child in need. The patient came from an economically depressed area and underprivileged background. The family would have been unable to pay the medical costs. Confident that this surgery could change the patient’s life, Dr. Goez agreed to perform the surgery at no charge, the hospital agreed to donate the use of their facilities and GraMedica® agreed to donate the HyProCure® stent.

To accomplish both missions, the surgery was broadcasted over the hospital’s closed circuit television. “This gave me the opportunity at the same time to be able to educate the Ecuadorian orthopedic surgeons on how to perform the procedure the best way possible, with a live patient,” said Goez. Later, he gave a lecture on the associated biomechanics, diagnostic procedures, post-op protocol and other related subjects so that these doctors would have the knowledge and confidence to perform Extra-Osseous TaloTarsal Stabilization with HyProCure®  themselves. Going above and beyond to prepare, Dr. Goez meticulously translated all of the information into Spanish. He also made sure to bring along Spanish-language patient education materials on the procedure and device to meet the needs of the people in Ecuador.

HyProCure®  is a lifetime solution to the devastating effects of talotarsal dislocation, a common foot imbalance that throws both the foot and the entire body out of alignment. It affects millions of people of all ages and it is the direct cause of many symptoms and secondary conditions such as overpronation, fallen arches, bunions, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), knee pain, hip pain, back pain and even problems in the neck and shoulders. HyProCure®  is a permanent solution that corrects talotarsal dislocation at its root, realigning both the foot and the entire body. The stent is inserted through a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure. HyProCure®  has been used by foot surgeons since 2004.

Foot and ankle surgeons can learn more about the HyProCure®  device and procedure at http://www.GraMedica.com, where they can also train online and/or find a live surgical training seminar in their area.
