Nov. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- The Airplanista Aviation Blog is currently growing its list of Featured Writers by presenting aviation blogs and posts from Kathy Mexted who lives on 100 acres about an hour north of of Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. Mexted is a freelance writer and photographer who flies a Piper Cub. She writes mostly on general aviation, profiles and is a guest podcaster for Plane Crazy Down Under and. She is a 'communicator' who also loves to travel.

"Kathy Mexted brings to our blog some very good writing about what it’s like to be a pilot in Australia,” said Airplanista Blog Editor/Publisher Dan Pimentel. “Her writing makes me want to visit this vast country, one we in the mainland U.S. really know little about. But as a pilot, Kathy fills her stories with the kind of passion for aviation that Airplanista blog readers also enjoy, so her pieces will be popular, I am sure."

On the blog now are two pieces from the “Aussie Airplanista”, both featuring great information. First, Mexted talks about a trip to enjoy the food and scenery at Mungo Lodge, a popular “Outback” destination for Australian pilots. She writes that the four-star restaurant at the lodge is only 100 meters from where she parked the Bonanza that had used to fly into the area.  Since the discovery of the 40,000 year old human remains of “Mungo Woman” in 1968 and “Mungo Man” in 1974, the location has been established as one of Australia’s most important archaeological sites.

Also on the Airplanista Aviation Blog is a look at Aussie general aviation both yesterday and today. Assisted by with James Kightly, this article describes the very early years from when Australia’s first military flight took place at Point Cook, Victoria in a Bristol Military Biplane on March 1, 1914, to the current licensing requirements to earn a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) pilot’s license.
