Allan Cox (AUS) wins the 1st Annual Putter King Miniature Golf Scavenger Hunt

Putter King LLC, Japan’s first indoor miniature golf franchise and the maker of the hit 3D iOS miniature golf game Putter King Adventure Golf, has announced that Allan Cox (AUS) has won the 1st Annual Putter King Miniature Golf Scavenger Hunt.
 
Nov. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Putter King LLC, Japan’s first indoor miniature golf franchise and the maker of the hit iPhone and iPad miniature golf game Putter King Adventure Golf, has announced that Allan Cox (AUS) has won the 1st Annual Putter King Miniature Golf Scavenger Hunt.

Putter King launched the 1st Annual Putter King Miniature Golf Scavenger Hunt (http://www.putterking.com/en/content/putter-king-miniature-golf-scavenger-hunt) on August 26th, 2011 and invited anyone worldwide to track down and record items and achievements related to all forms of miniature golf. In total, participants were asked to compete on 17 different tasks - everything from designing a new miniature golf hole to completing miniature golf math assignments to sinking a miniature golf trick shot.  

“It has been a whole heap of fun. I have had a ball.” said winner Allan Cox (AUS).

In total, there were 1,370 available points. Allan Cox (AUS) won the competition with 960 total points. Richard Gottfried (UK) finished in second place with 900 total points and Patrick Sheridan (USA) finished in 3rd place with 585 total points.

The 1st Annual Putter King Miniature Golf Scavenger Hunt officially closed for entries on November 1st, 2011.  After calculating the results, the judges determined that the top two competitors (Allan Cox and Richard Gottfried) were tied with 820 points after the first 16 tasks. To decide the final champion, Putter King decided to open up the 17th task, “Video of yourself successfully making a trick miniature golf shot”, to voting by the general public on Putter King’s Facebook page. The trick shot video with the most votes as of November 13th at 11:59 P.M. JST was deemed the champion.

In the runoff trick shot vote, Allan Cox (AUS) defeated Richard Gottfried (UK) 212 votes to 89 to claim the championship trophy.

Allan Cox (AUS) is a member of the Australian Putters Association (APA) and plays for the Ermington Putters Club in Sydney, Australia.  His first ever tourney scores were 42, 43, 42.  Allan filmed his ace shot at Putt Putt Ermington in Sydney, Australia using two ramped holes. The ball traveled over 18 meters from the tee until finally coming to rest in the hole and at times sailed over 1.2 meters from the ground.

Richard Gottfried (UK) is a British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour Pro, Great Britain International Minigolfer & a member of the 2008 BMGA British Club Champions – the Midlands Minigolf Club. He filmed his minigolf trick shot, which involved him scoring a hole-in-one while wearing a blindfold at Tea Green Golf Club, Wandon End, near Luton.

Putter King Adventure Golf (http://itunes.com/apps/putterkingadventuregolf) is available now in the Apple App Store for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and will be released soon on Android. TouchArcade.com raves, “Putter King Adventure Golf does a great job of capturing the spirit of miniature golf.”  While App-Score gives it 9 out of 10 stars, “Definitely worth a look whether you’re an adult or a child.”
