Nov. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Travelling to Lebanon is more exciting than ever with tours to discover its heritage sites, Beirut and other cities, nightlife, the fashion scene and restaurants. Now, with Four Seasons Hotel Beirut a trip could take a different, extreme and adventurous turn by going underground to experience the country’s wonders.
Caving in Lebanon
For the past fifty years, cavers have been exploring horizontal and vertical caves across the country with more than 1000 caves being discovered and reported. Of these, 73 are very well-known and the most famous is Jeita, one of the world's most beautiful caverns and considered a contender to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
“Lebanon is an interesting country to discover, and the beauty it holds is worth exploring and going the extra mile for,” says Stefan Simkovics, general manager, Four Seasons Hotel Beirut. “As they say, true beauty is what lies within and this is what you’ll feel when visiting Jeita grotto. And, our guests are lucky to have the chance to discover Roueiss cave, a wonder known or seen by few.”
Underground Osmosis Experience
Dreaming of being a caver can become a reality with the Underground Osmosis package at Four Seasons Hotel Beirut. Getting wet and dirty, having to climb or ascend steep cliffs to reach the hole that takes one to Earth's hidden gems, can all be organised by the Hotel's Concierge team. After advice is given on what to wear and what to expect, participants ages 12 and over are introduced to a trained guide. Being an experienced caver is not a must, but an adventurous nature is a plus. Helmets and headlamps will be provided on site and an explanatory tour will take place on the geological aspect of the cave before the adventure begins. The package also includes roundtrip transportation and insurance.
To maximise the experience, guests can chose between a special relaxation session to enjoy the tranquility and energy the Earth offers, or celebrate the occasion in an unconventional way with candle-lit toast.
Four Seasons Hotel Beirut will offer the brave-hearted a well-deserved 30-minute back massage at The Spa with compliments to make it an unforgettable experience.
Located in the Aaqoura Area, Roueiss Cave is Lebanon’s second deepest after Jeita, with a depth of five kilometres (3.1 miles), and where a natural bridge passes over the winter river that originally formed it and continues to link the areas of Al-Aqoura with nearby Al-Majdel. Curious to see something else while there, make a steep climb up the cliff to reach a chapel inside a cave that goes back for 500 metres (1640 feet) and has a small spring. Domestic remains left by cave dwellers from the Bronze Age to the medieval era have been found there
