Art History Alive Announces New Lineup of Trips, New Guides for 2012 Season

Destinations on New Itinerary Include Sardegna, Bavaria, and Music Festival in Tuscany

PRLog - Nov. 12, 2011 - CAPITOLA, Calif. -- Capitola, CA, Nov. 12, 2011—Art History Alive (AHA), a boutique cultural immersion tour company, has announced a new itinerary of trips for the 2012 travel season.   The new schedule includes unprecedented excursions through Germany and the Italian island of Sardegna, in addition to recurring trips to Rome, Tuscany and Paris.

The cultural immersion tours on the 2012 AHA agenda are:

1)   California Gold Rush Wines and Yosemite
2)   Italy’s Sardegna: Ancient, Wild, Spectacular
3)   Paris 201: Beyond the Eiffel Tower
4)   Musica in Tuscany: A Summer Festival
5)   Germany and the Romantic Road
6)   Rome and Tuscany: A Colosseum and a Castle
7)   Roma Amor: Rome is Love Spelled Backward, with Author Judith Testa

“Italy’s Sardegna: Ancient, Wild, Spectacular” will feature visits to prehistoric stone island dwellings, known as nuraghe, as well as the opportunity to listen to ancient Sardegnan throat singing or “cantu a tenore”, and to visit the cities and beaches of the ancient island.

“Musica in Tuscany: A Summer Festival” will allow travelers to explore the hillside towns of Tuscany and surrounding regions.  The central focus of the trip will be a day-long music festival that will take place within the walls of a medieval Tuscan Castle.

“Germany and the Romantic Road” will take travelers on an eight-day excursion through the wine country and medieval walled cities of Franconia, working south through Nurnberg, Munich and ending in the Alpine town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.  The trip will also feature a stop at the Dachau concentration camp near Munich.

For the first time in 2012, AHA will see several of its trips lead by new guides, with owner and founder Cynthia Quist accompanying as a co-guide.  The October “Roma Amor” trip will be led by Judith Testa, former professor of Art History at Northern Illinois University, and author of the widely-acclaimed book “Rome Is Love Spelled Backward: Enjoying Art and Architecture in the Eternal City”.

About Art History Alive: Art History Alive (AHA) is a boutique cultural immersion tour company owned and operated by Cynthia Quist, and based in Capitola, California.  AHA leads small, intimate groups of between 6-8 travelers on culturally-focused trips to “off-the-beaten-path” destinations in Europe and North America.  AHA trips are often themed around a particular cultural or historic element (such as art or music), and take travelers to niche museums and sites, while allowing them to enjoy the authentic aspects of a given culture. AHA travelers spend their time exploring the geographical region, sampling (and sometimes cooking) the local cuisine, and to an extent, living as the locals do for the duration of their trip.
