By: Christina Bustamante Each day, hunger is experienced in every community across our state. Well-nourished families create better workers, more engaged voters and active consumers - a foundation for a vibrant community. Ending hunger in southern Colorado depends on the volunteer work of literally thousands of volunteers who know that they can make a difference." This is the 8th annual Take a Turkey to Work day. Care and Share's goal this year is 7,000 turkeys to be donated to needy families. In Colorado Springs alone there are around 10,000 families that would go without having a thanksgiving turkey, but thanks to Care and Share and K LITE 106.3 the word is out and businesses including Cheyenne Mountain Dental Center have teamed up this year to collect turkeys. This all will take place in one day Friday November 18th. You can drop off the turkeys at Cheyenne Mountain Dental Center 1803 B Street Colorado Springs CO 80906. Dr. Parkin and staff will be there from 8am to 4 pm. Or drop your turkeys off at one of four Wal-Mart locations: Chapel Hills, 8th Street, Palmer Park, and North Pueblo 6am to 6pm. Turkeys brought into Cheyenne Mountain Dental Center will be delivered to one of these drop off designations. " This will be a wonderful way to jump start the holiday spirit " said Dr. Ralph Parkin.
