Creationism Redefined by Gap Theory Alliance

Media understanding of the term “creationism” has narrowed to mean “young-earth” creationism -- with unfortunate consequences for the sci- entific credibility of the Genesis account of creation and creationism in general.

Nov. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- In paticular, the  assertion of “young-earth” creationists, in the face of massive
evidence to the contrary,  that our planet is only six thousand years old has
marked them out as being anti-science, and served to embolden evolutionists
in their atheistic claims. As a result, the Bible has  once again been brought into
disrepute, as in the days of Galileo, and many school boards and even Christian
ministers now regard the Genesis account of creation as little more than myth
and superstition.

At present, few people understand that in the decades before Darwin, early
Christian geologists and Bible scholars such as Rev William Buckland, Oxford
University’s very first professor of geology, shared the then majority view that
the earth was very ancient.

Again, very few understand that that  traditional view is still held today by the
professionally qualified members of the  “Affiliation of Christian Geologists”.
The members of the newly-formed “Old Earth Alliance”, representing a grow-
ing group of old-earth websites,  believe that the time has come to promote and
restore the traditional view.

This press release is the first step in that mission.
