Cummings Properties gives free offices to three entrepreneurs

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 10, 2011 - WOBURN, MA, November 10, 2011 – Cummings Properties recently announced the winners of “Make It Real,” an office space giveaway contest conducted in partnership with Boston Region Entrepreneurship Weeks (BREW). Three local companies – City Gate Language Services, Virtual Knowledge Workers, and Massachusetts Science Center Corporation – were the top vote getters in an online poll, each winning a free office for one year at either Cummings Park in Woburn or Cummings Center in Beverly.

City Gate Language Services, an agency that contracts freelance interpreters and translators for all types of business, claimed the first-place prize – a 1,300-square-foot office. Erica Sturgeon, project manager for City Gate, is excited to move her startup out of her house and into Cummings Center.

“This is an incredible opportunity that offers our business a premium location close to our clients on the North Shore,” Sturgeon said. “It also adds to our credibility and allows us to invest in other key areas.”

Leo von Wendorff, CEO of Virtual Knowledge Workers Inc. (VKW), said his new, 650-square-foot office will serve mainly as a sales headquarters for his budding off-site staffing agency. Once a modest call center, VKW utilized state-of-the-art technology to transform itself into a provider of virtual assistants for busy businesspeople.

Grateful for the opportunity, von Wendorff noted, “Cummings has treated me like a real client throughout the entire process, and has seemed sincerely interested in helping my business make the most of this amazing opportunity.”

Massachusetts Science Center Corporation, offering fun-filled math and science presentations for children in the Boston area, earned a 300-square-foot office. Michael Bergen, director, plans to make Cummings Park home for his business.

“It has really been a pleasure to help these entrepreneurs take a valuable step to the next level of business development,” said Carlson. “We will be here to support them as they continue to grow.”

Now in its second year, BREW (http://www.brewboston.org) is a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit in and around Boston. Between October 12 and 28, it featured more than 70 events geared toward local startups.
