BOSINVER SHINES SILVER AND GOLD!

A family run self-catering holiday accommodation provider in Trelowth, near St Austell, has won Silver and Gold at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2011.  

Bosinver Farm Cottages was awarded Gold for "Large Self Catering Establishment of the Year" and Silver for "Sustainable Tourism Award" by TV star Sue Perkins at the Grand Awards Dinner, held at St Mellion International Resort, last night.

Bosinver offers top quality farm holidays in Cornwall, providing twenty individual cottages set in 30 acres of wildflower meadows - complete with friendly farm animals, in a hidden valley between Mevagissey and St Austell.  

Pat and David Smith bought Bosinver in 1998 and are no strangers to success, having won "Self Catering Establishment of the Year" at the Cornwall Tourism Awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and have also been awarded Gold by the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

The couple are delighted with the Gold and Silver awards received last night, as Pat explains:

"It is a great accolade to win Silver for our sustainability.  This year we built a zero-carbon house which is energy self-sufficient, using mostly materials that could be sourced within a 10 mile radius.  We wanted to demonstrate that it's possible to construct buildings with a fusion of high quality design and low environmental impact.  A strong environmental ethos informs all parts of Bosinver Farm and I am proud to be an Ambassador for the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project (CoaST), so winning Silver in this category is wonderful."

David is excited that Bosinver has won Gold for Large Self Catering Establishment of the Year.  He commented:

"To win an award like this is to have all of our hard work recognised.  Cornwall is fiercely competitive in the field of holiday accommodation, so to win here is as good as it gets and reflects how well loved Bosinver is!  Many of our guests come back year on year, many with three generations passing through - children brought here are now bringing their children to enjoy the activities that we organise and our beautiful self catering accommodation.  We have even just celebrated a visitor's 21st visit to us!"

More than 120 entries across 13 categories entered this year's Cornwall Tourism Awards which are always well attended and highly regarded.
