But Swansea Council’s Special Events team have been busy planning Christmas in Swansea for several months.
One of Swansea’s best loved events in the countdown to Christmas, the Christmas Parade and Lights Switch On is set to take place on Sunday 20 November.
Father Christmas will take some time away from his busy toy-making schedule and has confirmed he will arrive in Swansea to join the parade and he will once again switch on the Christmas lights as he travels through the city.
Seven floats will make up the body of the procession accompanied by a number of marching bands, dancing groups and festive street entertainers.
Spectators are encouraged to line the parade route and cheer on the parade as it moves along the route.
The festive procession will start from outside the Dylan Thomas Centre at 5.00pm and make its way to the Guildhall via Wind Street, Castle Bailey Street, College Street, The Kingsway, St Helen’s Road and St Helen’s Crescent finishing at approximately 6.30pm at the Guildhall.
Frances Jenkins, Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and events said, “The Christmas Parade is a fantastic family occasion and gets people in the mood for Christmas.
“This year’s packed programme of events will prove no exception”.
