Announcing the Book Launch of "Leaders: Their Stories, Their Words"

LEADERS: THEIR STORIES, THEIR WORDS subtly challenges much of the conventional wisdom found in books on leadership. It's not about the quick fixes that typify many leadership books; it's about bridging the gap between leadership theory and skills.

Nov. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Donna Karlin, world renowned speaker and leadership coach and author of the critically acclaimed book LEADERS: THEIR STORIES, THEIR WORDS, Conversations with Human-Based Leaders™ announces the official launch of the book on November 30th, 2011.

LEADERS: THEIR STORIES, THEIR WORDS is sold through Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Barnes & Noble and several other online retailers around the world. Amazon.com is the officially designated launch site in all countries.

LEADERS: THEIR STORIES, THEIR WORDS is an anthology of one-on-one conversations held between Donna Karlin, and the different leaders she invited to tell their stories. Each leader was encouraged to share their personal history reflecting their transformative experiences.

Donna identified leaders across a broad range of professional disciplines (from politics and business to medicine and education). Each one has produced exemplary results. Each uses a style Donna characterizes as human-based leadership. Human-based leaders operate with respect and appreciation for their people. Their teams deliver because they are encouraged and inspired to be their best. This contrasts with a more common form of leading – power-based leadership – where people are used as an instrumental means to organizational ends.

Each leader’s story is different. Each story describes difficult, character-building experiences that echo the kinds of challenges many of us may have faced. LEADERS: THEIR STORIES, THEIR WORDS challenges us to learn more about what’s important to us – how we can engage and express our values more powerfully.

Donna Karlin is an international speaker, lecturer, author, and world-renowned leadership coach. She is  a member of the team that coaches the TED Fellows, and a communications and team dynamics advisor for INSPIRIT International Communications, Brussels, Belgium. Her work has been written up in Fast Company Magazine, The Financial Post, The Globe and Mail, and The New York Times Business Section.
