For scope, if one hour of Standard Resolution DV format video requires 12.7 Gigabytes of storage, the same amount of HD requires 60 GB—squashing both down by factors of 3 and 14 respectively to reformat video, makes for visual mush as well as a lot of heartbreak of lost work and money. Moose Pix advocates foresight and archiving (ideally of the best resolution source materials available) to clients so that non-compatible formatted, quality-killing picture compressions need not hinder current or future professional video results.

“Whether it’s been a corporation rebranding or product roll-out, it’s the same issues as for some performing arts show,” Luskin details. “Many times we don't have much material for a stage show and have to promote a current show by using the client’s images from the past. Thus a high quality archive is an invaluable source not just for historical research but for video promoting in the present and future.”
