The Headwaters Fund is comprised of three loan and grant programs and during the campaign for marketing Humboldt County specifically, requests for applications rose 900 percent.
“For over a month my phone was ringing off the hook and my email box was full,” said Dawn Elsbree, coordinator for the Headwaters Fund. “In addition to raising the profile of the fund and creating community awareness of our successes and goals, he has spurred public interest in developing collaborative partnerships for economic development projects, which can have a real and lasting impact on our local economy.”
The components of the Headwaters Fund are the Grant Fund that offers grants for projects benefiting base industries in Humboldt County, the Community Investment Fund that offers loans and grants for projects related to infrastructure and the Revolving Loan Fund, that makes loans to businesses and nonprofit organizations in Humboldt County.
