PCH Announces Top 3 Charities in the Running For $25,000 Through The Social Media Give Back Program

The ASPCA, Operation Homefront and Standup For Kids come out as the contenders

 
PRLog - Nov. 8, 2011 - PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- For two weeks PCH Fans logged on to the Publishers Clearing House Fan page to vote for ten causes that were posted in order to help PCH narrow down its search to donate $25,000 to charity.  There was a wide array of causes to choose from, which included Support the Troops, Improve Education, Develop Communities, Help the Homeless, Provide Disaster Relief, Protect the Animals, Promote Sports, Enrich the Arts, Fight Disease, and Save the Environment.  

After more than 20,000 votes the top three causes chosen by fans were Help the Homeless, Protect the Animals, and Support the Troops. Since then, the PCH Charity Committee has chosen one charity to represent each of these causes for another round of voting. This second round will decide which charity will receive the $25,000 donation.

The three contenders are:

• StandUp For Kids represents the homeless category and is an all volunteer run not-for-profit organization founded in 1990 to help rescue homeless and at-risk youth.
• The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) represents protection of animals. The ASPCA is the first humane organization established in the Americas and serves as the nation’s leading voice for animal welfare. More than one million supporters strong, the ASPCA’s mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.
• Operation Homefront represents support of the troops and is a non-profit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors.

The charity to receive the most votes at the end of the four week voting period will receive $25,000, while the remaining two charities are guaranteed $2,500 each. Throughout the process, PCH has and will continue to offer a $5,000 sweepstakes to its Fans. Fans can log on and enter once a day at the PCH Fan page.
