Lincoln Highway Director Elected President of Ohio Byway Links

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 8, 2011 - Mike Hocker, executive director of Ohio's Lincoln Highway Historic Byway, was elected president of Ohio Byway Links on October 5th in Columbus. Ohio Byway Links is a coalition of Ohio-designated byways interested in promoting travel & tourism, economic development, and preservation of their byway’s amenities.

There are currently 28 byways in Ohio, although all are not active in travel & tourism promotion. Active byways include Lincoln Highway, Amish Country Byway, Ohio's National Road, Ohio River Scenic Byway, Hocking Hills Scenic Byway, Old Mill Stream Scenic Byway, Morgan County Scenic Byway and more.

Ohio Byway Links began in 1999 and has worked with the ODOT byways coordinator to introduce and share ideas for the management of the byways. The coalition is looking forward to working with Shyna Gawell, new ODOT Scenic Byways Coordinator.

The representation of the Lincoln Highway to this group continues to ensure pursuit of successful partnering with private sector businesses that will grow through their support, available grant monies, preservation of significant features, and focused promotional activities.
