Nov. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Relationship addiction and codependency are found in the media today like never before. This does not necessarily mean these are on the rise, as it is more likely the general public is becoming more aware of these problems as the result of that media coverage. Relationship addiction and codependency have as many causes as there are relationship addicts and codependents. The question for those involved in such situations is perhaps not, ‘What caused this?’ but rather ‘How can I heal myself of this?’

Unlike books written by psychologists or mental health professionals, Michielle Beck’s groundbreaking work, ‘Sorry, I Though I Loved You’, offers down to earth, practical advice. There is no technical jargon or one-size-fits-all advice.  Ms. Beck hopes her audience will understand that the book was written by a real, normal person for other real, normal people who are struggling with their relationships - any kind of relationships, not just romantic ones. She knows her subject matter intimately, being married for the first time at age 17 and divorced for the fifth time at age 34. There aren't many other books like this one, but there are many, many people who have relationship problems who can immediately benefit from Beck’s new release.

"I've been fortunate,” stated Ms. Beck, “to have quite a bit of encouragement to write this book - people telling me my story sounds like something that should be on Oprah or Dr. Drew, or maybe a Lifetime movie. I didn't write it for that reason, though. I wrote it because I wanted to show that real people can have these kinds of problems, and they can come out healthy and happy on the other side.”

"I know there are people out there like me who have struggled, and are still struggling, with relationships. They aren't alone, and they need to know that someone else has been where they are - and has gotten past that point in life. They can, too. Hope and help are available to everyone, but the addicts or codependent has to want to get better. We must grant ourselves permission to put our interests first, and care enough about ourselves to get the help we need."
