December 17 1.00 pm
At the bottom of Well Walk, Dr Pickwick requests the delight of your company.
The top doctor of the Divine Circle of DoctorHood, the unforgettable and totally eccentric, Dr Pickwick will arrive by black cab, decorated with the characters created by Catriona Mackenzie and drawn by cartoonist Simon Ellinas. A bottle of champagne, served by Dr. Pickwick personally, will go to the first group of ten people to arrive, as he just loves being the centre of attention. Arrive with your friends and get festive.
Dr Pickwick’s special remedies are stones taken from the mouths of rare toads which cure all kinds of ailments and woes, so at 1.15pm he will present the person most in need of a remedy with the Golden Toad brought specially from the mysterious Middle East.
Dr Mackaroyd is nowhere to be found, as usual, as he is too busy hunting down, somewhere in the world, his own remedies - he sends various types of clouds which soon disperse but as with every cloud they have healing sunshine behind them.
Dr Pickwick is in Hampstead seeking out Jean-Paul, the cloud carrier for Dr Mackaroyd for surely he knows where Mackaroyd is. Jean-Paul lives a bohemian life in a flat somewhere in Hampstead.
Dr Pickwick will enlist the help of Dr Priestley, the eminent scientist and discoverer of oxygen who until recently was spending his retirement on a plinth in Birstall Market Square until he abandoned it, fed up of the local yobbos and the pigeons. His special remedy, as it is has always been is oxygen, which he now provides to those left gasping by the recession.
So at 1.30 pm, we will reach for the clouds by releasing 100 pink balloons, three of them carrying remedies for Christmas - in the real world, vouchers for champagne.
Come and join the pre-Christmas party- cakes courtesy of Ignatius Cawley, the Ramsbottom baker of the very best confectionary-
