Nov. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Marshalltown, Iowa—November 7, 2011-- Mechdyne Corporation has advanced their Conduit™ software to allow multiple users wearing motion capture suits to ”step inside” a virtual human, or avatar, and interact directly with data from a much more realistic simulation perspective.   They will be demonstrating this latest advancement at the Dassault Systemes Customer Conference 2011, to be held in Las Vegas from November 8-10th.

Although motion capture capabilities have been utilized in immersive simulation environments for some time, Mechdyne’s newly refined technology is comprised of the Multi-User option and Mannequin Tracker Module of their Conduit for V5 software. This paired with the IPSI Server and RTI-Delmia software from Haption enables users to collaborate and interact with their V5 designs for a multitude of business and research possibilities.

Developed in partnership with Haption, this new solution enables a viewer to be “inside” a Dassault Systemes V5 avatar rather than “puppeteering” the human model from an outside perspective.

“This new level of motion capture support allows multiple participants in a shared virtual environment to collaborate and interact with their engineering designs, assemblies, and process simulations, all from the first person perspective,” says Matt Szymanski Vice President of Products for Mechdyne’s Software Division.

“Putting multiple users inside these avatars provides a collaborative environment for a work team to interact together like they would in the real world, reducing product and life cycle costs,” says Szymanski. “This new capability is the result of direct requests by many of our industrial customers.  The support for multiple users with first person viewing is especially valuable in testing, defining, and refining physical processes, as well as in training and simulation scenarios or ergonomic studies.”

This innovative integration of technologies will create more powerful and realistic simulations for assembly operations, aircraft maintenance, ergonomic testing, and reach studies.  The multi user technology also creates collaborative learning scenarios that include more natural trainer/trainee sessions.

DSCC 2011 brings together customers, partners and technology leaders representing 11 industries and users of the Dassault Systemes 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) brands.  This year’s theme is “Innovation in Life.”  At the conference, which will be held at Caesar’s Palace, Mechdyne will partner with Haption to demonstrate Conduit on an 85” 3D-stereo HD plasma display provided by Panasonic.
