Nov. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- The International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA), the non-profit organization dedicated to the care and welfare of pets and animals during transport, presented the 2011 Millie Woolf Memorial Leadership Award to Manuel Luenda on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the IPATA International Conference in Hong Kong. Luenda, IPATA president-elect, is owner of Las Lunas in Argentina.

The Millie Woolf Memorial Leadership Award was established to honor individuals that “give it their best” after Woolf, the founder and first president of IPATA died after a two and one-half year battle with bone marrow cancer in 2005.

“I’m honored to present this award to Manuel,” said Sally Smith, IPATA president. “He has shown great leadership and volunteerism skills while serving on the Board of Directors. He will soon serve the organization as the first non-USA president and we are all looking forward to his guidance.”

Luenda will receive $2,000 to conduct additional work to support animals, further her education or donate to other good works in memory of Millie Woolf. IPATA and Air Animal fund the award.

The IPATA International Conference is the world's largest gathering of pet shipping professionals. Attendees include animal handlers, pet moving providers, kennel operators, veterinarians and others who are dedicated to the care and welfare of pets during transport.
