Follow on Google News | Indian Economy & the Road towards Globalization- Kaushik BasuOn 4th November 2011, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata had organized an interactive session on “Indian Economy and the road towards globalization” in the multiplex simulated auditorium of the campus at 4:00 pm.
By: The Heritage The session started with lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest and the speaker of the session Prof. Kaushik Basu followed by Trustee members of Kalyan Bharti Trust (promoters of Heritage), Shri H K Chaudhary, Shri Vikram Swarup and Shri Visambhar Saran. Also the session was attended by the Executive Director, of the Trust, Mr. Probir Roy, Director, of the institute, Prof. B.B.Paira, Principal, Prof. Pranay Chaudhari and CEO of the Trust Mr. Pradip Agarwal. Prof. Kaushik Basu in the session stressed on the fact that foreign direct investments is flowing into India in record amounts this year which indicates that the world still considers India as a very good bet. Such is happening due to the increased effect of globalization where also the domestic industries are moving off-shore to capitalize the benefits of globalization. Also our industrial sector has not shrunk and its growth is just slow compare to other nations. Overall India today is one of the fastest growing nations in the world. Prof. Kaushik Basu also commented on the inflation rate which is the real problem faced by the economy. He expects softening of inflation rates from the month of December. He also spoke about market forces which would make the distribution system efficient to curb food inflation rate leading towards a welfare measure for the poor people. He also said that food inflation will curb down by the third week of December. Overall he said that India is one of those countries on whom the entire world depends and no one would like to hamper the economic condition of India in the world economy. The session ended with a vote of thanks given to the Chief Guest & speaker of the day Prof. Kaushik Basu by the Secretary of the Trust, Shri H K Chaudhary. Nearly 400 faculty members and 800 students attended the session including corporates and leading economists of Kolkata. # # # Anything inspires and displays the youth of India and creates a society desperate to committ themselves for the welfare of the country.
