Xango is a network marketing company that started in 2002 with its “Xango Juice” health drink as the only product. It has since added a few more products to its line, but Xango Juice continues to be its main and most popular product. It saw early success with the popularity of its juice and has grown into a viable and solid company.

Xango rode the wave of several very popular and powerful fades, “health drinks” and the “go green” craze. Their drink has been highly acclaimed for it healthful benefits derived from the mangosteen fruit which is primarily harvested in Southeast Asia. And, from its start they have espoused the good qualities “thinking green” and openly promote the use of all natural products and recycling at every chance.

They are in the heavily competitive health and wellness industry and as their product line grows they must go up against the two giants Herbalife and Amway, and they also bump heads with smaller companies like Acai Plus and MonaVie.

All the Rage

I tend to be a bite stand-offish with companies that have success seemingly based on a fade, but they seem to have ridden the health drink fade quite well and the company, having been founded by businessmen, is very well run.

One of their challenges is that there are several other companies riding that same fade wave. For example, Acai berry health drinks are enjoying success with the same “exotic fruit” fascination of the market place that Xango enjoys. I see this trend of new companies with “new exotic sounding fruit health drinks” continuing until the market place loses interest in this type of product.

Increasing the number and type of products in their line seems to be their strategy to provide a buffer in the event the market collapses for this type of health drink and their main product begins losing sales. Another challenge is the high price of that main product, Xango Juice, which currently is at the high end of this type of health drink in the market place and is expected to get some strong competition from other companies offering a more cost effective alternative.

The Sky's the Limit... or, Maybe not?

The compensation plan they offer is a little limited, and would probably fall somewhere in the middle of what most top network marketing companies today provide. They do offer profit on product sales and commissions on downline sales and bonuses, but because they use a “unilevel” plan the depth of your downline commissions is severely limited.

All in all, Xango is a business opportunity that some may find ideal and others maybe not. An expensive main product requires some sales and marketing skills, and a limited product line compared to the other top health and wellness companies can prove a real challenge.
