He and his wife had attempted to start their own business years ago. Holly's baked goods became famous with friends and family and they tried to get them out to the buying public. While the reception was generally positive, and they actually received some attention, the logistics of selling homemade food were just to difficult to keep in line. In the end, the food safety regulations were just too much of a wall to get past.
After that, they tried something a little different. Still in the sweets genre, but this time packaging other peoples treats in creative and unique ways. Again, the reception was positive, but keeping up with the logistics was difficult.
Fast forward to a few years later, and Paul is trying to figure out what he's missing. And it hits him; with both of these business, they spend thousands on new websites, graphic design, and even a mobile app. These skills were something Paul new a little about. Growing up, he was, well, a little bit of a computer nerd. He didn't keep up with many of the changing technologies as he got older, but the fundamentals were still there. Additionally, many of his friends were still very much the nerds they were years ago.
Paul was excited. He quickly got started putting together a group of talented friends to cover the most in demand technology needs. Website development, desktop software development, mobile app development, database development and management, and graphic design. 5 Nerds.
A quick website was built (www.5NerdsSoftware.com)
5 Nerds has celebrated its first birthday, and things are going strong. When asked about what made this business venture different, Paul said, with a grin "If I would have just stopped trying to think of a unique idea and just thought about what I knew, I could have done this a long time ago!"
