Nov. 4, 2011 - PRLog -- OXNARD, CALIF.-- Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton LLP (NCHC) has been designated a "Green Office" by Hines, the international real estate firm that owns 1000 Town Center in Oxnard, home to the  26-attorney law firm. NCHC is the first tenant in the six story, 111,773-square-foot office building to receive the designation.
The Hines Green Office designation is given to Hines tenants in properties worldwide that voluntarily create and implement internal programs that measure and reward sustainability practices.
"We found that reducing our energy usage and waste was a relatively easy process," says Joel Mark, the firm's managing partner. "Once everyone bought into the idea, it was exciting to discover all the ways we could be more sustainable."
Some of the simple green practices applied by the law firm include 1) programming computers to "sleep" after 15 minutes of inactivity, 2) placing recycling bins in areas where paper is heavily used (i.e., mail room, photocopier locations), 3) programming printers so they use both sides of the paper and 4) using plenty of office plants to absorb indoor pollution.

Mark encourages all businesses to think green. "Besides doing something good for the environment, these simple changes make sense economically as well," says Mark.
