Follow on Google News | Ontario Solar Provider Races To FIT Project Realization In 100 DaysOntario Solar Provider has successfully received Notice to Proceed for two rooftop solar PV projects. Both projects reached this milestone in record time - one in 105 days, the other within 100 days of the contract offer.
In order for the OPA to issue the Notices To Proceed, the projects had to satisfy a number of contractual requirements. Foremost amongst these were demonstrating sufficient project financing and the completion of successful Connection Impact Assessments (CIAs) with local hydro companies. These CIAs secure capacity for the projects on the grid, and have presented challenges for some parties. Ian Rice, OSP’s Manager of Interconnection and Regulatory Affairs, noted that, “Our whole development team is really pleased to push ahead with these projects. It’s a pleasure to put our international FIT expertise to use and work with the hydro companies and OPA to help build Ontario’s green economy.” OSP will own and develop both systems, which are located in Moose Creek and Toronto. They have capacities of 200kW and 180kW respectively and will produce enough electricity to power approximately 40 homes. Both projects are expected to be interconnected by the end of 2011. **** Ontario Solar Provider Inc. is a Toronto-based solar development and installation company, specializing in Feed-In Tariff (FIT) rooftop solar installations and ground-mounted solar farms.
