YMCA of the Rockies Thanks our Military and Veterans with Colorado Vacation Packages

ESTES PARK, Colo.- YMCA of the Rockies strongly supports our military men and women, active, reserves and veterans, and their families. To show their appreciation and gratitude, YMCA of the Rockies is offering a special new Veterans Appreciation Package in addition to a year round Military Getaway Package. YMCA of the Rockies is also proud to announce work on a new permanent military retreat facility with partner Project Sanctuary.

Now through May 31st, all active duty, reserves, retired, and veteran military personnel and their families are invited to experience YMCA of the Rockies’ Estes Park Center and Snow Mountain Ranch at a special rate. The Veterans Appreciation Package includes two nights lodge accommodations, meals for up to four people, activities and programs for $149.99. As a special holiday bonus, the Veterans Appreciation Package can be given as a gift certificate. Package, even from gift certificates, must be booked by December 31, 2011.

Families visiting during Veteran's Day can also enjoy free admission to nearby Rocky Mountain National Park.

M. Kent Meyer, YMCA of the Rockies President and CEO, shares “The YMCA has a long history of supporting military service members and their families. Having served for six years in the Air Force I appreciate the sacrifices that both our veterans and their families have made for our nation.”

In hopes of helping more military families reconnect post-deployment, YMCA of the Rockies has partnered with Project Sanctuary to build a permanent retreat facility at Snow Mountain Ranch. Project Sanctuary brings military families on therapeutic recreational retreats to help reduce the negative effects of deployment which can include divorce, suicide, and abuse. Currently 11 retreats are planned for 2012 at YMCA of the Rockies’ Snow Mountain Ranch, though with a waiting list of over 700 military families the hope is the new permanent facility will help many more. In addition to providing facilities for retreats, YMCA of the Rockies generously supports retreats by funding half of the costs.

YMCA of the Rockies operates two year round resort-style properties on either side of Rocky Mountain National Park. Estes Park Center, surrounded on three sides by Rocky Mountain National Park, is an 870 acre property with family activities ranging from guided snowshoe hikes in the national park and outdoor volleyball to campfires and arts and crafts. Snow Mountain Ranch, nestled in the mountains near Winter Park, has over 5,100 acres complete with 60 miles of trails, recreation facilities such as an archery range, disc golf course, and Nordic Center, and family programs for all ages. YMCA of the Rockies has been helping families grow stronger and create new memories for over 100 years.
