Olympic Gold Medalists Shawn Johnson and Misty May Treanor Visit Fans at Aries Apparel Nov. 1, 2011

Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- HILLSBORO, Ore. – Specialty female athletic apparel, equipment and accessories retailer, Aries Apparel, welcomed two Olympic gold medalists to the store November 1, 2011 for an inspirational visit with local girls.

In October, locally owned Aries Apparel announced Olympic gold medalists, gymnast Shawn Johnson and beach volleyball player Misty May Treanor, would be making a special appearance.  Young athletes from the Portland-metro area filled the store to capacity Tuesday evening as Johnson and Treanor partook in a question and answer session before taking photos and signing autographs with each girl.

“It was a truly amazing experience to watch these young athletes interacting with their idols. Shawn and Misty truly embody the principles and ideals of an Aries Apparel athlete,” said Diana Marsden, Aries Apparel owner. “Not only was this the largest crowd our store has ever seen, but the energy was truly something special. It was a great evening.”

Johnson is training for her second Olympic Games in London in 2012; she competed on the U.S. Gymnastics Team in 2008 where she won a gold medal for balance beam. She also won silver medals for floor exercise and individual all-around in Beijing and the U.S. Gymnastics Team brought home silver in the team competition. In 2009 Johnson took a hiatus from gymnastics to compete as the youngest-ever contestant on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars;” she and dancing partner Mark Ballas won the season.

Treanor is a three-time Olympian; she finished fifth in Sydney in 2000, won gold in Athens in 2004 and brought home a second gold in Beijing in 2008. The American Volleyball Professionals named Treanor best offensive player seven consecutive years, best defensive player 11 consecutive years and most valuable player four consecutive years.
