Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Staff members of The Legacy at Willow Bend, Plano’s first and only life care senior living community, recently walked through Celebration Park in Allen, TX. They walked with the purpose of raising money and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease as part of the Alzheimer’s Association “Walk to End Alzheimer’s.”

“‘The Walk to End Alzheimer’s’ is a great event that supports research and caring for those dealing with Alzheimer’s,” said Louise Dunkerley, director of marketing and sales, The Legacy at Willow Bend. “There are nearly 5 million Americans currently suffering from Alzheimer’s and at least 11 million more in charge of caring for them. The Legacy Senior Communities has been actively helping those with Alzheimer’s and their families for the past 58 years.”

“The Walk to End Alzheimer’s” – formerly Memory Walk – has raised over $200 million since 1989 to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. This walk is an annual event held in more than 600 locations across the nation.  The Alzheimer’s Association has a goal this year to have 38,000 teams across the country competing to raise the most. Their goal is to reclaim the future for millions of Americans and to help end the disease which is the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.

“The Legacy at Willow Bend is proud to have a part in this cause,” continued Dunkerley. Alzheimer’s affects not only our residents, but also their families and our staff as well.”
